Walgesang - Whale song

Hey readers, maybe we have been boring you with our stories from training, but dog athletics season is nearly over and apart from that there will be some news for you soon. Don't think we are just model dogs, we won't leave you without our stories. So, sports again this week, athletics, rally obedience and mantrailing for Alpha. He had a long break but did quite well. While he trained for rally obedience I uttered my strange singing voice. One said this sounded like whale songs. So I listened to this on the internet. Did you know that this is music for relaxation? So I will go to a recording studio these days and register real Sissi-Songs. In the meantime I will tell my humans to record my songs when I am sitting in the box at the dog training camp and howl sing.

Turniervorschau/ Preview of the tournament

Hey, another Alpha report. Last time my mom trained for the Shorty and this time I exercised the hurdle run and slalom. Only threw down one hurdle and managed all the slalom poles perfectly. The trainer was quite content with all the teams. I barked a bit when Lara made her rounds on the ground and when another large black dog - not unlike me but more a kind of bouvier with another haircut - passed the fence. Otherwise no riot, my problem that Claudia can pull me at my large beard when I don't obey. Well, as you see, I am becoming a kind of schnauzer role model - not really but otherwise you would be bored. Come and see us on the 10th of September in Ludwigsburg, you can see me and my mom in action and of course many other teams who are faster and better than we are. We are looking forward to having away supporters. And there is yummy food, we will have a barbecue and lots of salads, even vegan and vegetarian stuff (not my cup of tea, I am a flexitarian with special interest in raw meat and fish) and great cakes (I would like to, but am not allowed)
But I am looking forward to the treats I will be getting there, see you, Alpha.

Shorty Training

It won't be long until we start our THS tournament. We are looking so forward to it. The day before we have our huge giant schnauzer get together in Neckarbischofsheim and have to start the next day early. Well, I think we giants don't mind. We chill anyway once in a while, let's just hope that Claudia is up to it. Yesterday we were training for the shorty with Claudia. In the beginning I wasn't really motivated and then got better with time. You know, people say that it isn't "the fault of the dog" and after my dog handler made things a bit more interesting and went closer to the obstacles so that I couldn't rund around them but had to jump, I was more in favor of the whole thing. Alpha had to remain in the box while we exercised, didn't like this idea very much but we had a nice walk before and he also participated in the chip control where he had the possibility to rabble at the others.
He will be running the triathlon - he trained this last week - and I will do the Shorty. This is a kind of short obstacle run. There are two rows with 5 obstacles set in a parallel way. There are teams of two humans and two dogs. One team starts the run and when it arrives, the other team starts in the other direction. This is done twice and then the average time is calculated. We deciced that we will do section 1 now because Claudia from a distance sees very little, more like a mole, and otherwise ruins our start.

Das Hohenasperger Wasserloch und Contortionist Alpha/ The water hole of Hohenasperg and contortionist Alpha

Hey guys, my son managed to dive his whole body apart from head into the water hole of Hohenasperg. Took some time. I watched him and took a sip of water now and then from the faucet. Claudia even put up a metal tub in the garden for practising which he didn't like, sometimes just stood in it or jumped over it. But here he showed that schnauzers are extremely flexible. What do you think? Am I ready for the circus or what?

Hintern draußen, Rute draußen, Kopf draußen - geht nicht!
Butt outside, tail outside, head outside - no go!

Kopf unten, Hintern draußen, auch nicht!
Head down, butt outside, not even!

Breast and head in the water, butt and tail outside, quite uncomfortable!

Noch mal aufstehen, abkühlen und nachdenken.
Stand up again, cool down and think.

Better already although extremities still outside.

Kühler Hintern und warme Brust
Cool butt and warm breast.

Geht doch, ich bin ein Genie!
Here we go, I am a genius!

Na, könnt Ihr das auch?
Now it is your try!

Control Freak

Hey guys, this is Alpha, your philosophic dog. My humans think that I am a control freak. There are some signs of it. For example I always look in which direction my humans are headed, if they might plan to go out and I have EVERYTHING under control: the hallway, possible dress changes, last time lavatory visit, packing of the rucksack, preparing of training treats, humans talking about "having a walk ect". When they put on their shoes, get keys or leash, I circle them like a sattelite and bark joyously so they won't forget me. When humans sits down, I like to have body contact in order to notice when he goes away, it is enough to put the head on his foot. When human sleeps, I like to be near, in the corridor. When human is in the kitchen, I like to keep track of everything, maybe there will be a treat or our dinner is prepared. Sometimes this habit of mine can also have a negative effect. Already happened to Claudia - I followed her when she brought out the garbage. Then I made a check of the yard and in the meantime she went in again and closed the door. Once she only noticed 2 hours later when dinner time had come and only Sissi appeared. Then I had been quite still, no barking or anything. Maybe I didn't like to be mocked about it "see what happens if you always stay behind me like a velcro dog" - I hope this isn't contagious though. Because I heard that there are also humans who are like this. They don't follow each other around but want to know everything, command everybody and are mad if the others don't want that. Oh well, don't know any people like this, do you?

Rally Obedience mal wieder/ Rally Obedience again

Hey guys we have been doing sports again. I, your Sissi, practised my whining aria in order to be taken along also. Actually the human had this idea of taking just Alpha, who jumped around like a mad dog barking in this hysteric squeeky play way. Should make a video of that some day so people can see how crazy we are acting. Only on Friday somebody said that Alpha is chilled - but this is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde although we are not good and bad, more like relaxed and freaking crazy. So it is more like Mr Jerky and Mr Chill or Miss Yelpy and Miss Smoochy.
Claudia had forgotten her smartphone because I didn't remind her (how can I, I am just a dog) and we had to go back half way otherwise we would have gotten lost without the GPS. We learned there (Rally Obedience) that Claudia had gone the wrong way "around the dog" always. Furthermore we have to practise the right position in front of the signs and Claudia has to learn to read them correctly, otherwise we have to look for another human to do this sport with us. I must admit, I was a bit iffy on the day, in spite of yummy horse sausage as treat. Alpha did quite well, not his problem if the human makes all those mistakes. He didn't even run down the pylons this time.
